I am a Supplement Skeptic


I do not blame you! Now let's get Honest about why you turn to Supplements.

With the celebration of Prograde's 1st birthday, this is the perfect time to help address questions and concerns that have been raised.

We live in a society where instant gratification is a constant and sometimes not even fast enough! With cell phones, instant messaging, access to the internet, infomercials, etc. we want what we want, when we want it.

Unfortunately, this fast paced mindset has carried over into our perception of what it takes to lose weight. I will not add the phrase "to get fit" for fitness does not come neatly packaged in a bottle of any sort. Nor does it magically happen in a matter of days or weeks.

The concept of magic pill-like results have lead many of us on a wild goose chase. Only to end up in a place that is even further from our goals.

So it is highly likely you are going to purchase supplements. Therefore it is in your best interest to know what you are getting and why you need it.

First let me clarify what it means to supplement: Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole.

Therefore supplements are anything taken in addition to what you are already doing to enhance your results.

Can you get results without the use of supplements? - absolutely! But will doing so be efficient and effective ? Well unless you make some drastic changes to the way you live your life, it is not likely.

It is a sad but true fact that many of us turn to supplements- pills, shakes, bars, etc. - in the hopes that doing so will turn out some fast and dramatic results. Let's be honest...being overweight and struggling with the consequences is very painful on MANY levels.

We want the pain to disappear as fast as possible.

Yes - you can lose weight on pills, bars and shakes - anything that restricts your caloric intake....causing you to Eat Less will lead to weight loss.

This is a TEMPORARY Solution.

The core reasons WHY you got to the state you were in have not been addressed. And guess what.... these reasons will remain and no amount of pills, bars, shakes or the like will make it go away so with each new approach you take, you will end up feeling like you have failed.

So where am I going with this post? Well with experiences like these, is it any wonder, that when a new "supplement" is introduced, there are many questions that follow.

It is my goal to help clear up the misconception and help you see that there is no "magic pill".

Rather it takes effort on your part to identify the choices and habits you live with on a daily basis and make some adjustments. In doing so, the addition of a select few supplements will help you along your journey....to not just achieve "weight loss' but to experience a higher level of health and fitness....affecting your mind and your body.

This is what Prograde has done for me and hundreds of women. I felt the need to dive into this after receiving several emails like the one that follows and could benefit from the response I shared with her.

I completely understand your position. And I would LOVE to share.

Yes, I have experience with the products and have actually partnered with the Prograde's registered dietitian, Jayson Hunter, to create a weight management program for the company.

If you want a great place to begin - I will share what I personally use and the results of my choices.

I believe in creating a sound foundation with a "multi" - now Prograde's VGF+25 is like a multi but unlike the typical multi you find in the stores, there is nothing synthetic - it is actually a whole food supplement....made from the concentrates of 25 fruits and veggies PLUS the addition of herbs specifically for women that promote hormonal balance...black cohosh, evening primrose, etc.

Now I have been using VGF+25 consistently for almost a year now and yes, the immediate benefits are improved nails, skin, hair....but the most profound benefit is truly the increased feeling of well being.

I attribute this to the fact that my moods are stable and I experience little to no PMS. There are even some months that I have no PMS at all! And get this...within a 3 month period I looked at my husband and realized I did not go off on him or need his comfort for one of my many mental breakdowns. But what I have discovered is that when your basic nutritional needs are met - you can achieve a higher level of health, fitness and well being. You can also think about it like this...a Healthy Body Burns MORE FAT than an Unhealthy Body.

I also take the EFA Icon - which contains your Omega 3's.
There are numerous studies which prove why women need to increase their intake of omega-3 fatty acids.

~ anti-inflammatory
~ hormone production
~ regulates metabolism
~ boost immune system
etc.



As far as weight loss is concerned....the drinks would be the next step and will help you based on your lifestyle habits and what suits you best.

The one I have had the most effect from has been the Prograde Workout. This is a more specifically designed drink...meant to have right after a workout. Great post and plug for prograde. I have bene using Prograde products for a while and love them - but just getting moving on spreading the word about them.
