Mom Achieves Bikini Model Abs in just 12 Weeks!

Mom of Three Amazing Abs Results

"I completed the 12 Week Transformation Challenge! Wow... it's hard to believe it's already here.

The past 12 weeks have been an amazing journey. I started this challenge with a “starved skinny” body. I was a scale watcher who averaged 1,200 calories per day. I was exercising but very discouraged—seeing no results. I figured this would be another lost cause for me—then along came Holly!

It seems like just yesterday I was trying to decide if joining an internet group was a good idea or not. ha! What is Holly is really some weird-o. ha!! What was I thinking? I'm so cautious and such a worrier. Come on, you know you've worried, too! But hey, was I ever wrong.... Holly is a blessing from God!

She has changed my life in a beautiful way. I am stronger, happier, healthier and more fit because of being a member of Club FYM.

I followed the FYM program with the highest level of dedication to see what could actually happen, and I began to feel stronger and happier—from the inside out!

I loved what was happening to me.

I loved sharing my thoughts with my FYM family and hearing what successes they were encountering, too. It was very empowering and uplifting. I was gaining a whole new outlook. I began to see new changes in my body, and was encouraged to work harder and re-evaluate my original goals.

I have learned so much over this 12 week time frame. I have a huge family of beautiful mummys who want the same thing I do...healthy, fit, beautiful, fulfilled lives! I cherish all my FYM friends (actually I consider you my family). The friendships I've made here and the inspiration I've gotten from your blogs, your tips and even your struggles are so special to me.

This is a safe place moms can come to get the support we need to succeed.

I am blessed daily by your words, your lives and your inspiration. This Transformation Challenge has made me accountable to myself and to my very dedicated friends who are in the same boat with me. I love you all and am thankful that I've had this most change in my life. And hey, even though the Transformation Challenge is over for me after this week, I'll still be going strong.

Just think, if I can accomplish these results in 12 weeks...just watch me in 12 more!

The 12 Week Difference
1.5 inches in waist
1 inch in hips

I decided not to settle for my original goal (to be toned and have nice muscle definition), but to add that I would, “shine as a mom, as a wife and as a woman who loves life, enjoys it, and takes care of her body.”
Fit Yummy Mummy has instilled me with an overwhelming feeling of success.
~I didn’t gain weight.
~I didn’t “beef” up.
I achieved all my goals.

New Goals

My goal is to continue to be a positive role model for my children and for others.

I want to shine as a mom, as a wife and as a woman who loves life, enjoys it, and takes care of her body. I have the ability to make a difference in my body through my daily choices. I can choose to treat my body in a positive way—the Fit Yummy Mummy way, or I can choose to abuse my body—bringing me down and putting on all the negatives.

My goal is to choose healthy. I want to shine with that inner light that comes from knowing that you are making good choices and that you are living life in a positive way.

My goal is to inspire others to take charge and make a difference by incorporating healthy eating, resistance training and intervals into their lives, thus becoming FYM’s too!

Steps I’ll take

1. Don’t purchase unhealthy products for myself or my family. If I shouldn’t eat it, why should I buy it?

2. Shop around the perimeter of the grocery store. Always check out the produce, fish and chicken. Shop often for good buys and stock up when there are sales. Seek out new ways to prepare these items so that we don’t become tired or burned-out on them.

3. Eat more raw fruits and veggies for better results.

4. Share my positive results with others so they will have an interest in becoming fit.

5. Plan for success. This includes planning meals, scheduling workouts/grocery time, planning for me time and family time. These are all important and must not be overlooked.

6. Stay connected with the FYM network. This keeps me on track and helps me when I’m having difficulties. The moms in this network are such a benefit to me. They are compassionate, caring, supportive, sensitive and honest about what it takes to make it! This is a big part of this program for which I am very thankful.

My Challenge to Each of You

If you haven't gone for it yet...now is the time! This program has been wonderful for me. Even though there's not another official challenge at this time, I challenge each of you to dedicate the next 12 weeks of your life to following the FYM lifestyle and see what Holly can do for you! I am beyond thrilled with my changes!"

6-Pack Abs....After 6 Kids!

Yes! 6 children - Ages 5-25

"When I found Fit Yummy Mummy I was walking a lot and only eating 3 meals a day. I did not eat junk food, no soda or chips, so I thought I was eating healthy.

When I saw how healthy and fit Holly was with Fit Yummy Mummy, I was sold. Plus I could live with only 15 minutes a day of exercise and the food plan sounded great!

Three weeks into Fit Yummy Mummy and I wanted to see if I have lost any weight so I weighed my self on my scale. I lost 2 lbs!!!

This was a real breakthrough for me for my weight was constant no matter how careful I was.

I had also lost one inch In my waist! This really is exciting that I can work out about 15 minutes a day and was able to see a big difference in only two in a half weeks!!!

My initial goals were to lose about 10 lbs., to look better in a bathing suit and to teach my children to eat better.

I have done better than I thought possible.

In just 12 weeks I have lost 10 pounds and my waist went from 29 inches to 26 inches!

I Lost 3 Inches!

I used to have stomach problems and that has stopped. I have given up coffee, and learned so much about eating healthy foods. Now I eat five small meals a day and exercise only 15 minutes a day. It is amazing how much better I feel!

Fit Yummy Mummy has changed my life.

I have given birth to six children and am raising my stepson too. I home school my children so I am always busy . The meal plan is simple to follow and soon becomes a habit. I feel great about my Fit Yummy Mummy results!"

Flat Abs after Five Kids without a Single Sit Up!

Mom Achieves Bikini Ready Abs

"I had just had my 5th and final child and the last 3 were within 4 years so I was feeling huge and tired.

I was a runner and I had run until I was 7 months pregnant and then walked up until I broke my elbow at 34 weeks into my last pregnancy.

I started running again when my baby was 4 weeks old. I was running 4 miles every other day and on my off days I was doing kickboxing. I was ready to get my body back. I had only gained 25 lbs. with the last pregnancy but I started at 150 lbs. which was 20 lbs. over my high school weight.
So here I was at 160 lbs. I remember going to play tennis (which I love) and running around the court. I remember feeling so heavy and like my weight was slowing me down.

It was at my daughter's 1st birthday and I had gotten down to 150 lbs. again that I was realizing that all the exercising I had been doing for that whole year was NOT making a huge difference.

Something needed to change.

Why were all my friends in our group still complaining that they couldn't lose weight?

Why were my couple of friends who quit running looking skinnier?

I started researching around for the new "diet" that would finally help me lose the last 10 lbs. (my goal was to get back to 140 lbs.) I was actually at the store on New Year's Eve buying lots of "rabbit food" when I ran into my friend Jennifer. I told her I was so tired of being fat and exercising all the time without results, and she told me she had started doing this program called, Fit Yummy Mummy. She was so excited about it, so I got home from the store and looked it up on the internet.

I read everything there was to read and it all made sense to me. I have always loved fitness and health and have read everything I can about it so I think I am pretty educated in the latest and greatest.

I just knew that this was the key, this was what I had been looking for. This was not a gimmick and this looked like something that I would stick with forever. I looked at Holly and thought, wow look at her, she looks great and she is telling me how I can look like that too. I signed up right then and there. I started my first resistance session that day.
I was so excited.

I knew this was going to work for I believed in strength training but I had always just used the bands and light weights before. I set my goals and dove in. I wanted to get back down to 140lbs, and tone up my body. I wanted arms that people would say, wow she looks strong!! I have always had big "athletic" thighs and I wanted to shrink those too.

After just 2 weeks into Fit Yummy Mummy I was noticing a difference.

I used to go to bed at 9:00 because I was so exhausted, now I have so much energy. I was down to 142 lbs. and people were starting to ask what I was doing.

I kept at it, never missing a workout. How could you not want to exercise with this program? It only takes me 15 minutes a day and it is fun. Always different, I can change it up so many ways that it is always a fun challenge. I have enjoyed it so much that I have never missed a workout since I started January 4th.

I have even started noticing that my stomach is beginning to form a six pack!!

After 5 kids, that seemed impossible!

I have not done a single sit up since starting Fit Yummy Mummy either!!

People ask me which ab exercises I am doing the most, I tell them I am just following Holly's workout progressions.

I am so surprised that in 15 minutes a day, I am getting far better results than I was getting when I was working out every day for over an hour!

My Fit Yummy Mummy Workouts

I am and always have been very consistent with my workouts. I never miss them. I remember at first I could only complete 2 regular pushups and had to finish up with knee pushups.

Now, I am doing 30 regular pushups with one leg elevated, decline pushups, and 1 arm MB pushups!! I can do the side plank with leg raise and yes, I can even do burpees for 1 min!!

I am proud to say that since I have started Fit Yummy Mummy I don't even miss the junk. My new favorite breakfast is a fruit smoothie.

I am careful about choosing my foods and making sure they have a high protein and fiber content so that it will keep me full until the next mini meal.

For me, nutrition is all about changing my percentages. I feel like every time I eat I am making a better choice than the time before. It is about making choices and choosing what you will put in your body. I never focus on the things I can't have, I focus on the things I can have. Holly has made it so easy to make those right choices.

My Results!

To date, I am now 135 lbs, yes, 5 lbs. less than what my initial goal was.

Imagine after 5 kids and being back at that weight!!

My arms are toned, and my stomach is flat, my thighs are firmer, and I feel great. I can look in the mirror and like what I see. For me, that is my biggest accomplishment. This is a whole new lifestyle for me and I can see myself doing it for the rest of my life.

Fit Yummy Mummy has changed my life. I am in control of my body. I now have the knowledge and tools that it takes to stay in control.

I used to be the mom sitting on the bench at the park, now I am up and playing and running around (sneaking in some pullups) playing with my kids.

There is never an excuse to not fit in 15 minutes a day of exercise. If I, a mom of 5 can find time, anyone can. It is fun. I have never missed a workout nor have I gotten bored with any of it. I look forward to each and every workout!

I will be a Fit Yummy Mummy for the rest of my life. Thank you Holly for giving me the tools and power to transform my body and my life." ~ Maria, Mom of Five (10, 8, 5, 3, and 1 year old), Idaho

Why do we Overeat?

A ClubFYM Diet Question

I am sharing a post that was created by a Fit Yummy Mummy in ClubFYM who has some encouraging and empowering thoughts on why we choose to overeat and how we can overcome this self-limiting habit.

"I'm posting this as I believe there may be quite a few ladies out there who get stuck in the diet-binge cycle that I'm very familiar with. Here are some of my thoughts which have helped on the whole overeating sabotaging dilemma.

Something I do now which has helped me a lot is I think in longer time lines.

I used to always start out 'gun ho' (is that the saying?) and be really strict basically expecting too much too soon. It was all about the weight, weight, weight... I'd be on the scales thinking "wait a minute I've been killing myself for a week eating so strictly and exercising and I've lost one lousy kilo?"

Do you think like this?

It's really not a successful way of thinking. The all or nothing attitude is not realistic. I've tried it countless times.

I've since adjusted my expectations. Small improvements at a time is what works. Even though you may be thinking as I have in the past-'No way that will take way too long' and maybe your mind set is the same as mine was, that if I slip up and have one cookie then that's it-the rest of the day is completely ruined...I've stuffed up .

This is exactly why we fall into the same mentality and vicious cycle.

I know I still fall into this mentality sometimes but a hell of a lot less now that I've adjusted my expectations and not expect all or nothing from myself. Maybe some people who have never had an eating problem can do that but I can't.

I've already eaten a giant oatmeal raison cookie this morning but it is the way I chose to view this in my mind that determines if I will go into a downward spiral or continue through the day following my plan again. This morning I chose to see it as one cheat. If I have 6 cheats throughout the whole week (6 out of 42 meals!) that is WAY better than ruining the whole day which will turn into two days, three days etc...

I might not be 15% bodyfat with cut arms but hey I'm feeling better about myself than I did a few months ago. And what's not to say that I have 15%BF and cut arms one day, but it's not my burning desire anymore to get it by this date or I've failed.

Then there are the other slip ups which happen when we are feeling crap and decide to eat crap to make ourselves feel even crappier.

How insane is this?

If you think about it, the decision that determines our whole day happens in a few seconds. Getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen, or driving into a drivethrough, or putting something in our shopping trolley that we know shouldn't be in there.

Do you relate to these scenarios?

How about we play these scenarios or other ones that you go through in our heads, visualize them, and in the visualization choose to say STOP in our heads and take the time to think about the consequences and then think about the times when we have felt our best...when we are eating right and feeling great.

If you visualize this enough you will jog this memory the next time you actually do the scenario in reality. If you start becoming aware of what you are thinking you can change your thoughts to better ones and that can change your whole day....your whole life...one thought at a time."

Are you ready for May? Bikinis, Moms and Makeovers

4 Week Memorial Day Fat Loss Plan

Planning on slipping into your favorite pair of summer shorts? Maybe you have plans to spend your holiday weekend in or near the water. Most likely everyone will be faced with the choice of wearing something a bit more revealing over the Memorial Day Weekend.

How's your bikini ready plan coming along?

If you are still in need of a quick fix plan that will get you on the fast track to results...listen up! You only have 4 weeks left!

Time to get focused and follow along!

Memorial Day Bikini Makeover Plan

I'll make this simple and to the point.

Step 1: Eliminate the Junk

You hear it over and over again but let's get honest here...you are asking for Fast Results. Well if you want to see fast results - it will take you less time to decide to NOT eat the extra 300-500 calories in cookies, chips, candy or everyday fast food items.

You could try a "quick fix" to get RID of those extra 500 calories....

40 minutes on a bike - not a casual, magazine reading, TV watching ride, 60 minutes on a treadmill - walk/run combo, Or if you are really ambitious you could run up and down some stairs for an hour and burn about 800 calories.

Sound like a bit too much - no time, no energy?

Get this: If you eliminate 500 calories of Junk a day...in one week you will lose 1 pound of FAT. All from CHOOSING to NOT eat it - which takes....Zero Seconds of your time.

Step 2: Don't Skip Meals

Getting your body bikini ready is NOT about starving yourself. Rather, the key to fast, slimming results is to boost your metabolism. You accomplish this by having a few habits in place.

One important habit is to Eat! Eating every 3 to 4 hours gives your body the Fuel it needs to Burn More Calories.

I know you are thinking..."But Eating is what got me into trouble in the 1st place!"

Well eating too much, at the wrong times with the wrong foods can be one of many reasons why you are displeased with the look and feel of your body.

Choosing to skip meals only teaches your body to SLOW your metabolism down. You end up burning Less Calories - so when you DO eat, your body's slow moving metabolism ends up storing the majority of those calories as Fat.

How to Start - Begin with Breakfast.
Starting your day with a supportive meal...quality protein and hih fiber....Kick starts your Metabolism. So you begin your day, energized, satisfied and already burning more calories.

Keep this momentum going by eating every 3 to 4 hours.

Burn MORE calories with Step 3

Step 3: Eat Supportively

(Notice a trend yet?) Not only does what you eat, when you eat it have a huge impact on Losing Fat, choosing the RIGHT foods can actually Help you BOOST your Metabolism.

The more supportive the food => The more frequently you eat => The more calories you will burn.

Supportive foods? Foods put on this earth for us to eat....Veggies, Fruits, Quality Proteins, Whole Grains, Healthy Fats. (not fake, pre-packaged, un-recognize-able foods)

Example of a Supportive Day:

1. Egg White Omelet, Yogurt, Fresh Blueberries, Flax Seed
2. Handful of Walnuts and Dried Cranberries
3. Spinach Salad: Grilled Chicken, Bell Peppers, Feta Cheese, Balsamic Vinegar
4. Baby Carrots and Hummus
5. Grilled Salmon, Steamed Sugar Snap Peas and Basmati Rice

Burn EVEN More Calories with Step 4

Step 4: Workout Consistently

More than what it is you choose to do, is that you do it and do it in a progressively challenging fashion. Too often, we begin an exercise routine and start off too fast and too furious, hoping our "gung-ho" efforts will elicit faster results.

We end up wishing for evidence of results after a week or two...don't see them....give up.
We do too much and get burnt out....and give up.
We do too much and get hurt....and cannot continue.

Important Message: More is NOT Better.

Not exactly the cycle that renders results.

So what does?
Sure just about any sound, well rounded exercise program will do if you stick with it. Well Rounded meaning a plan that has....

~ mapped out, full body, progressively challenging Resistance Training routine.
See Benefits of Resistance Training HERE
~ moderate Cardio Routine

In need some cool, bikini ready results in the next 4 weeks?
Remember, results do not come by working harder for an extended period of time.

You have the option of implementing short burst resistance training and intervals.

Your workout time is cut by half - if not more - you stay challenged the entire workout, you are super energized, you feel good about your choices to stay on track and...you get results much faster!

In 4 weeks.....

This 4 step, Memorial Day Bikini Makeover Plan
will help you to shed up to
8 pounds of fat
!

That is...If you are ready and willing to make the commitment.

Doctors, Star Wars and Super Heroes

Tyler's Visit to the Neurologist

Thank you once again for all your support and prayers regarding the scare with Tyler. Like the women on ClubFYM have shared, he is like our little FYM mascot! It has been a stressful past two weeks and I have a quick update to share.

Yesterday we met the Top pediatric neurologist around. - Dr. Puri and yes, he was awesome.

Even though Dr. Puri shared that Tyler would most likely have another seizure, likely to occur during sleep transition, he was VERY reassuring. The DR would like to know more so has us scheduled for an MRI and a second EEG in the next few weeks. There are no definitive answers. But in these instances as I am learning from what I have researched as well as what many of you have shared with me, this is common. Will there be another? We do not know. More of a wait and see type situation.

In the meantime, life goes on - but definitely with a whole new perspective.

As I shared in my newsletter and blog post, as a Mom, it is so very important to stop and take a moment to appreciate the little things around you. Next to our own needs, one of the biggest areas that is easily gets overlooked in our super busy lives, is time with our children. It is one thing to be by their side and keep a watchful eye, but it is a totally different experience when you put yourself in the moment with them.

There are hundreds of precious moments that we miss out on due to our over-scheduled, stressed out, chaotic days.

Life is not meant to be spent this way. In the end...what will the stress leave with you...or think about it like this....what is it stealing away?

We are so very fortunate as Mother's to have this constant reminder provided by our children.

Take time out for you and your children.
Love them.
Kiss them.
Hug them.

Look into their eyes and really listen to what they are saying. They have many valuable lessons to teach us.

Tyler has been awesome during all of this too. I have explained to him what has happened and why we need to go to the DR. In his precious way of making sense of it all he asked me....

"Mommy? What if the Dr. finds something wrong with my brain?"

I explained to Tyler that no matter what the Dr. says, that he will be just fine. Tyler thought about this for a moment and then asked...

"Mommy? Are you like a Star Wars character?"

I was curious and asked "What do you mean?"

"Star Wars characters can sense things and you can sense that there is nothing wrong."

Ah, the magical thinking of children. And in their eyes, we are their super heroes. Why not go one step further than just saving and protecting them and actually do them the honor of stepping into their world and touching their lives in a way that no one can.

My Mom just sent this quote to me -it fits quite well with this message:

Soul cannot exist when our connections in life remain superficial. An experience of soul requires that we take time to be fully present to the details of our lives.

Explore what happens when you take the time to STOP and PAY ATTENTION. When we choose to slow down and really experience the qualities of our lives, we get a whole new perspective on what living’s all about.

'We must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind us to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and mystery.'

-- H. G. Wells

I am a Supplement Skeptic

I do not blame you! Now let's get Honest about why you turn to Supplements.

With the celebration of Prograde's 1st birthday, this is the perfect time to help address questions and concerns that have been raised.

We live in a society where instant gratification is a constant and sometimes not even fast enough! With cell phones, instant messaging, access to the internet, infomercials, etc. we want what we want, when we want it.

Unfortunately, this fast paced mindset has carried over into our perception of what it takes to lose weight. I will not add the phrase "to get fit" for fitness does not come neatly packaged in a bottle of any sort. Nor does it magically happen in a matter of days or weeks.

The concept of magic pill-like results have lead many of us on a wild goose chase. Only to end up in a place that is even further from our goals.

Did you know...
Over 50% of Americans use supplements - feeding the $25 billion supplement industry.
So it is highly likely you are going to purchase supplements. Therefore it is in your best interest to know what you are getting and why you need it.

First let me clarify what it means to supplement: Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole.

Therefore supplements are anything taken in addition to what you are already doing to enhance your results.

Can you get results without the use of supplements? - absolutely! But will doing so be efficient and effective ? Well unless you make some drastic changes to the way you live your life, it is not likely.

It is a sad but true fact that many of us turn to supplements- pills, shakes, bars, etc. - in the hopes that doing so will turn out some fast and dramatic results. Let's be honest...being overweight and struggling with the consequences is very painful on MANY levels.

We want the pain to disappear as fast as possible.

Yes - you can lose weight on pills, bars and shakes - anything that restricts your caloric intake....causing you to Eat Less will lead to weight loss.

This is a TEMPORARY Solution.

The core reasons WHY you got to the state you were in have not been addressed. And guess what.... these reasons will remain and no amount of pills, bars, shakes or the like will make it go away so with each new approach you take, you will end up feeling like you have failed.

So where am I going with this post? Well with experiences like these, is it any wonder, that when a new "supplement" is introduced, there are many questions that follow.

It is my goal to help clear up the misconception and help you see that there is no "magic pill".

Rather it takes effort on your part to identify the choices and habits you live with on a daily basis and make some adjustments. In doing so, the addition of a select few supplements will help you along your journey....to not just achieve "weight loss' but to experience a higher level of health and fitness....affecting your mind and your body.

This is what Prograde has done for me and hundreds of women. I felt the need to dive into this after receiving several emails like the one that follows and could benefit from the response I shared with her.

~~~~~~~~~
"Do you have any experience with the Prograde Nutrition products?
I am always skeptical with new products and would like to learn about someone's personal experience them, specifically with the weight loss products featured on their website."
My Response:
I completely understand your position. And I would LOVE to share.
Yes, I have experience with the products and have actually partnered with the Prograde's registered dietitian, Jayson Hunter, to create a weight management program for the company.
If you want a great place to begin - I will share what I personally use and the results of my choices.
I believe in creating a sound foundation with a "multi" - now Prograde's VGF+25 is like a multi but unlike the typical multi you find in the stores, there is nothing synthetic - it is actually a whole food supplement....made from the concentrates of 25 fruits and veggies PLUS the addition of herbs specifically for women that promote hormonal balance...black cohosh, evening primrose, etc.
Now I have been using VGF+25 consistently for almost a year now and yes, the immediate benefits are improved nails, skin, hair....but the most profound benefit is truly the increased feeling of well being.
I attribute this to the fact that my moods are stable and I experience little to no PMS. There are even some months that I have no PMS at all! And get this...within a 3 month period I looked at my husband and realized I did not go off on him or need his comfort for one of my many mental breakdowns. So an indirect benefit.....a Happier Marriage and Family Life!
Yes - that powerful! Now I do not want to lead you to believe that this is some sort of magic pill. For I do follow the guidelines of a supportive nutrition plan and do workout at least 2-3 times a week as outlined in my Fit Yummy Mummy Lifestyle System yes, I practice what I preach.
But what I have discovered is that when your basic nutritional needs are met - you can achieve a higher level of health, fitness and well being. You can also think about it like this...a Healthy Body Burns MORE FAT than an Unhealthy Body.
I also take the EFA Icon - which contains your Omega 3's.
There are numerous studies which prove why women need to increase their intake of omega-3 fatty acids.
~ anti-inflammatory
~ hormone production
~ regulates metabolism
~ boost immune system
etc.
As far as weight loss is concerned....the drinks would be the next step and will help you based on your lifestyle habits and what suits you best.
The one I have had the most effect from has been the Prograde Workout. This is a more specifically designed drink...meant to have right after a workout. Purpose is that the faster your body recovers from your workout, the faster you see results. Within one month of drinking Prograde workout after my workouts my body fat dropped a little over 1%. And this is after I had maintained my physique for about a year. It was one piece of the puzzle that helped me achieve just a bit more.
Now there is also Prograde Lean...which is you meal replacement shake. This will help with weight loss if you find you skip meals during the day or are likely to not make the best choices when eating in the run. By adding or substituting this shake for a meal or two during your busy day, this improved choice will help you manage your calorie intake and with all other factors of fat loss in place, will help you to see results.
"I work in an office all day, and find it hard to find time for too much exercise."
Whether you work at home or in an office, exercise is essential to your success and takes a LOT less time than you realize.
As a work at home mom and entrepreneur, I know first hand how easy it is to quickly fall into a sedentary lifestyle. With innovations like e-mail, the web, and teleconferencing, work life has become so efficient that we barely need to get out of our chairs during the day.
The consequences may as seem obvious - the less you move the more weight you are likely to gain. However, did you stop to think that the quality of your work may suffer as well?
Studies prove that those who take the time to exercise during the workday feel more productive. They also experienced improved mood, a reduction in stress and an increase in energy.
Just take 5 to 10 minutes to exercise and you will be less likely to suffer bouts of afternoon fatigue - otherwise known as the "post-lunch dip". It's the paradox of exercise. To get energy you must to expend some.
Exercise and what you choose to Eat are two important elements for being fit. Unfortunately during the work day we either forget to eat, don’t have time to exercise or both. It is easy for us to become so focused on our work that we forget to take care of ourselves.
So this week, let's Do Something Different! In honor and appreciation of Administrative Professionals Week, pull out your daily planner and mark some time off during the work day for YOU.
At the very least, taking a 5-minute exercise break will energize, firm and tone your body without messing up your hair or makeup.
Your "AT WORK Workout"
Here is a quick exercise routine you can perform at work or in your home office. This full body resistance training routine will target all of your large muscle groups which in turn will supercharge your metabolism.
All you need is your own Body Weight- so very little space is required - and no more than 10-15 minutes. If you do not have this much time...I know you have at least 5 minutes - so break this workout down and perform it in 3-4 five minute intervals during the day.
1. Y-Squat
10-13 repetitions
2. Assisted Push Up
Perform against your desk for 10-12 repetitions
3. Reverse Lunge
6-8 repetitions each leg - alternate
4. Belly Blaster
10-12 repeitions
Depending on the time you have available, repeat this sequence of exercises up to four times in a row - completing exercise 1-4 before repeating. Allow very little to no rest between each exercise.
Be sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout.
A fit body and mind can keep your quality of work and your business in peak condition. Paying attention to the wellness of your business is important but paying attention to the wellness of YOU is even more important.
1st Fit Yummy Mummy Meet Up
The Ultimate Fat Loss Support System
Toronto, Canada
I am VERY excited to share that I had the true pleasure of experiencing the Very 1st Fit Yummy Mummy Meet Up!
This was made possible by the fact that I had plans to travel to Toronto for a super fun business meeting - sharing great ideas to help improve Fit Yummy Mummy with an awesome group of colleagues including Craig Ballantyne, Vince DelMonte, Brad Pilon, Jimmy Smith, Isabel De Los Rios and many more!
The awesome women from ClubFYM started a discussion in the Forums to see who would be available and made all the arrangements for dinner.
Not only was my first trip to Canada exciting in itself - but knowing I had the opportunity to actually meet and spend time with the women I chat with on a daily basis on ClubFYM. I was too excited as the Taxi pulled up outside the Hilton for inside, waiting in the Lobby was Julie C, Marloes, Jessica, Jennifer, Patti and Carolyn!
What a thrill to give these amazing women a big hug and actually see the progress they have been making first hand!
We had the most delicious dinner at the Monsoon. When we arrived, I also met Renee who had driven in to meet us! Good times were shared over dinner as the FYM's shared amusing and heartwarming stories (and pictures : ) about their family, fitness tips and plans for future success.
I was also excited to hear how Marloes coordinated a Fit Yummy Mummy "quick start" meeting in her home, inviting those women who lived in the area to meet so everyone could check in and be sure they were all off to a great start.
Talk About Inspiration!
There is NOTHING more powerful than coming together with a group of like-minded women, who are passionate about becoming the best version of themselves.
I did not meet a group of online faces, I meet and connected with family.
Thanks again Ladies for making this happen! You are the absolute BEST! I know this is just the FIRST of many more FYM Meet Ups.....Get ready for Spring 2009!
Don't you deserve to experience this type of support and positive relationships to help you achieve your very best?
Fat Loss Confusion
The Mass Confusion That Dominates In Fat Loss & Fitness Today
By Rob Poulos, Author & Creator Of The Fat Burning Furnace System
"Women are confused more than ever about how to burn the stubborn fat.
They are confused about the best way to go about achieving the body they want. They are confused about what works and what doesn't, and the reasons why. Many are slaving away in gyms and fitness centers around the country right now. They are working tirelessly, almost every day, on the treadmill, stair-climber, elliptical, etc. to burn those calories and fat. They might be lifting weights several times a week for hours at a time in the hopes that the exercise will tone up those trouble areas. They even join a few aerobics or spinning classes too just to get that final burn.
In addition to all this exercise, many are trying out the latest diet strategies that promise miracle fat burning and quick weight loss. Too much money is being spent on the latest and greatest dietary supplements that promise to aid in simple and effective weight loss.
Unfortunately these very women are also carefully watching the scale as their main judge of fat loss progress. If it goes up a pound or two, they may behave rashly and maybe even change up their entire workout or diet program! And of course there are others are doing variations on that same theme.
After all, this is the kind of stuff that many of the popular fitness and diet gurus typically recommend for women who want to burn fat.
But with so many different strategies and plans being pushed as the be all and end all, what happens is we tend to go overboard. And when that happens, we lose sight of what really matters in achieving lifelong fat burning, fitness and health…the principles than many women don't even know about, most have forgotten, and only a select few put to use to achieve lifelong health and fitness.
With any exercise or nutrition program, you'll probably lose some fat initially, but far too often the progress doesn't continue or doesn't come as fast as you would like because you have a short-term, temporary mindset. It's very easy to focus on an immediate and specific goal and end up switching to something else.
This routine continues until you've become consumed, frustrated and exhausted by this cycle of confusion.
I believe that this is one of the biggest, if not the #1 reason, for the lack of fat loss and fitness progress that is being experienced by the masses of exercisers and dieters in the world. Jumping from one fad diet or exercise routine to another, while losing sight of what's really important, and what really works. Simply put, they are exercising far too much, not nearly intensely enough, and trying to adhere to unrealistic diet recommendations.
So what IS the solution?
Try this.... focus on a long term plan, a lifestyle and don't worry about "losing 10 pounds by summer". You will find it far easier to do make good choices for the majority of the time. These choices will include brief, progressive, and intense resistance training, eating a diet full of nutrient rich foods, drinking tons of water, and getting plenty of quality sleep and rest. The students of my Fat Burning Furnace method understand this and are reaping the life long health and fitness rewards because of it. Are you?"
I workout ALL THE TIME. Why Can't I get Results?
Fat Loss Troubleshooter
"I've been a so-called "athlete" for 10 years. I have participated in tons of road races, hikes, climbs, you-name-it.
Even though I continue to add new workouts and routines to lose the excess pounds I've gained over the last 3 years, the fat will NOT budge.
I thought lifting weights, running, and hiking every day would help me lose weight, but I've only gained more weight.
I am starting to realize that maybe my body can't lose weight if I never take a day off. The problem is, I never FEEL like I need a day off. My body is so used to my routine that I feel incredibly lethargic and out-of-sorts if I don't get 2-3 hours of exercise a day.
You're probably wondering when I have the time to get that kind of exercise...let's just say that I cram it in any way I can---especially in the early morning hours, before my baby is awake. But then I take my boy everywhere, too...he even goes hiking with me. I carry him in my baby-pack thing. Is that insane? Probably. But I live in a country where I walk EVERYWHERE, so I am used to this kind of active lifestyle.
I am scared silly that if I stop running every day that I will just get fatter. And yet I know in the back of my mind that my current body is NOT what it could be, and more exercise is NOT working.
My eating habits are usually pretty good. I can't seem to stop gaining fat, though!
What is wrong with me?
Could it really be all the exercise?
But then why are most competitive athletes so lean?" ~ Rachel, 31, Mom of one
~~~~~~~
"Hi Rachel,

Good for you for stepping forward and looking for an answer.
You are at the point in your life where what you have been trying is no longer working, you are not alone.

As you begin to search for a solution, know that it is not fair to compare yourself to athletes.
Many are genetically gifted, many take steroids or tons of supplements. Plus, "athletes" - is such a broad term for they are all so different. Their methods of training are for very different goals and are not relevant to you and what is best for your body.

When it comes to your ability to see results, there could be several factors at play.

I am just going to through a few ideas out there and hopefully one or more will help you see a solution that you can take and use to make a difference.

When it comes to results- consistency is key.

It is more than just trying a new workout here or there and all about sticking to one plan that becomes progressively challenging. When you follow through with consistency you will be in a better position to measure your progress and make adjustments that help you move towards your goals.

Doing more exercise each and every day is not going to get you to your results faster. This is a common misconception that many moms fall prey to.

More is not better.
Choosing a more effective workout plan is.

You are seeing first hand that working out for 2-3 hours a day is actually taking you further away from your goals. Reorganize your time to instead focus on an intense and challenging workout that is completed in a reasonable time - about 30 minutes- that focuses on a total body approach.

You also want to be sure when you include resistance training, to allow days in between for recovery. Your body must have a chance to repair itself in order to respond in a positive way - shed fat and increase lean muscle. Working out for 2-3 hours everyday will only lead to over training, burnout and put you at risk for an injury.

Living an active lifestyle is not a bad thing and no fitness plan you choose to follow should ask you to give this up.

In fact, it is highly encouraged that you ARE active every day. The difference is, simply being active is not to the same intensity level as your regular workout routine.

Please note, being active on a daily basis is not what will cause you to gain fat.

Being active will only help you to lose fat if you are in a caloric deficit.....and the only way we find ourselves NOT in a caloric deficit is when we are taking in more calories that we are burning.

For the activity level you have described above, you would most likely be in a caloric deficit IF your nutrition plan is on track.

The next step is to keep a detailed food log.
You cannot change what you do not know exists.

There are 2 possible scenarios here -

1. It may be that you are not eating enough, when your body is starved, it goes into survival mode, will slow your metabolism disrupting your caloric deficit and causing you to store more fat.

2. It may be that you are eating plenty, or too much. Sometimes we take eating healthy for granted. Just because a food is "good for you" doesn't mean we should neglect the amount of food we eat. If you were eating the right amount and the right types of food, with the activity level that you share you engage in every day, you would be losing, not gaining.

As you can see, there could be several reasons why you are not seeing results. In the process of troubleshooting, you will come to find that it is never just "one thing" - rather a combination of habits that we must adjust in order to see the results we are after.

So please take some time to honestly evaluate the other factors that come into play in order to make adjustments and finally see the results you have been working so very hard to achieve.

As a final note....and I know you are making an effort to try something different.....think about the 2-3 hours you spend each day, getting nowhere, and how a lot of this time could be spent on things that do give you a return, that do enhance your life." ~ Holly Rigsby
